India Invented
A 13-part serialised history of India, India
Invented has continued to enjoy a large audience since
1997 when it was first aired on Doordarshan. Written and directed
by Dr Arvind N. Das, one of India's foremost historians and
social scientists, it presents an overview of the historical
evolution of the culture of one of the oldest civilizations
of the world. The reputed newsweekly Outlook said of
the series: "it achieves the seemingly impossible task
of producing a significantly coherent history of India in
just 13 episodes". Another five parts of the serial have
been produced subsequently. APCA's team travelled more than
40,000 kms all over India to shoot for the series.
Delhi Discovered
A seven-part serial on the history and monuments
of Delhi produced for Delhi Tourism.
An Indian Experience
A series of four films on the cities of
Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur produced for Indian Airlines
for in-flight viewing.

Uttaranchal
In German and English, it was shown at the
Berlin Tourism Fair.
In
Search of Asylum
APCA has produced 13 capsules of about 5
minutes each on issues affecting refugees worldwide for the
UN High Commission. These capsules were meant to create public
awareness about refugees and focussed on such issues as the
definition of a refugee, the creation of refugees as a result
of human actions and the rehabilitation of refugees. They
were telecast once a week on The First Edition on Doordarshan's
Metro Channel. Subsequent to the production of these capsules,
UNHCR also commissioned APCA for the production of a 15-minute
film on issues relating to refugees.
Childen of a
Lesser God
APCA was commissioned by the European Union
to produce 13 capsules of about 4-5 minute duration each on
various social and developmental programmes being run in India
with their assistance. These capsules covered a wide range
of issues including afforestation, desalination of land resources,
leprosy patients and primary education in the country. These
capsules were also telecast once a week on The First Edition
on Doordarshan's Metro Channel.
In Search of
Identity
APCA has produced a stark 15-minute film
called In Search of Identity about the status of women
in India. This film was made on the occasion of the launch
of a Rotary Club funded project on Women and Child Health
Care Centres and was shown during the Club's annual meeting.
UN Janshala
Produced for the United Nations, Janshala
is a documentary on children deprived of elementary education.
It centers on a scientifically developed interactive curriculum
for teachers undertaken by the Government of India with five
UN agencies. APCA's production team travelled to various locations
in India for this 30-minute film which articulates the efforts
of UN Janshala in imparting elementary education in rural
areas and unrecognised urban settlements. It was shown on
various international platforms, including at the UN headquarters
in New York.
Jehad Factory
APCA is producing a 5-episode documentary
called Jehad which comments on various social, cultural and
political issues - particularly the extremist Islamic educational
system and cross-border terrorism - which have caused unrest
in Kashmir.
Indian Classical
Instruments
The
five-part mini-series traced the origins and evolution of
the different classical musical instruments of India, and
presented it through a maestro. The instruments included stringed
instruments like the sitar, veena and sarod, and percussion
instruments like tabla and mridangam. It was telecast on Doordarshan
and IGNOU's educational channel Gyandarshan. |
